Maverick4
Maverick looked around nervously, pressing his thumb against the number four on his left forearm- a nervous habit.  His black hood pulled down shadowing his face from the passerby on the main street.  He was standing with his back against an old brick walled building.  The alleyway was desolate except for a dumpster on the opposite side of the narrow alley and a rusted fire escape above it, half-bolted to the old bricks of the building.
His blood red eyes were searching the swaths of people coming and going waiting for his contractor to show.  He eyed the communicator on his wrist, forty-five minutes late.  When a potential client was this late, it usually meant one of two things: the client had either backed out to afraid to proceed with business.  Or he was being setup and any minute now the police would have both ends of the alley blocked.  Leaving him with little way out.
Maverick decided it was best if he left now incase it was a setup.  He pushed himself off the wall and started toward the main street sidewalk, when a hushed voice called from above.  "I'm up here assassin."  Maverick turned and glanced upward, a tan hooded figure stood on the roof of the building across the alley, right of the fire escape.  A green three-fingered hand signaled him to follow.
He ignored the people walking by as he climbed onto the dumpster, jumped, and grabbed the rusted ladder to the fire escape.  Clambering to the top as quickly as possible for fear of the thing collapsing in age.  The roof was naked much like the alley, an access door to the inside of the building the only scenery.  It stood wide open; Maverick jogged across the roof to it, sparing a look back the way he had come to make sure no one was following.  He shut the door behind him and went down stairs.
The tan cloaked figure was nowhere in sight at the bottom of the stairs.  Maverick found himself standing in a white painted hallway.  The left hall was dark and led to a dead end window that looked out onto the street below night had fallen outside.  The right had four doors on the left side and two on the right.  Light seeped under the second door on the right.
Maverick walked down the right hall and opened the door with the light behind it.  The room was bright, fluorescent lights hung from the ceiling in the center of the room.  The tan hooded figure was seated in a chair facing the door.
"Please have a seat assassin."  The figure nodded at the only other chair in the room, directly across the table from him.  "I must say it is a pleasure to finally meet one the first five of you.  I have heard great things about you in the news.  You are clean and efficient.  Hopefully you are exactly what I'm looking for."  The figures said so rapidly he was hard to understand.
Maverick pulled out his chair and sat down.  "I am happy to be here, who do you need?"  He said, folding his arms across his chest.  Whomever he was talking to was a Madari, the green three fingered hands and rapidity of speech gave that away.
"Well as you know I hired a member of your team recently to do a job and they did not succeed.  You're mysterious employer assured me I would obtain different results from you."
This guy liked to talk that was for sure, Maverick thought.  "Yes, my colleague has been docked for his poor performance two nights ago at the council chamber.  We are terribly sorry for the inconvenience it must have caused you."
The figures tongue lashed out and whipped back into the recesses of its hood.  "Oh you caused little inconvenience, just a minor setback in a plan that has been a long time coming.  However, I would like to add to the contract.  I need someone else dead too."
He liked where this was going, the more people that this guy needed killed the more money would be coming his way.  "That is not a problem, my employer would be angry if we passed up an extra kill."
"That is wonderful to hear; along with Primordial Daleks I also need Ambassador Skydragon dead."
Was this guy nuts? Maverick thought.  One council member was bad enough, but two, this could spark an all out war across Arca.  Unless that is what he was intending to have happen?  In that case this was a political contract through and through.
"That will not be a problem. Any specifics on how you want the jobs done?"
"Oh no, like I said I've read your work.  It is nothing less than marvelous.  Just make sure they are both dead within the week."
"Well enough, I'll have them both taken care of tomorrow."
"Even better." The Madari said.  "The last time I spoke with your organization it was through dead drops and coded messages. Why have they sent you to physically meet with me this time?"
Maverick knew the answer well but it was classified.  The original five assassins were allowed to speak directly with their contractors.  Being trusted members of M.O.P. they were able to accept contracts that they deemed themselves capable of doing.  The five of them also had direct contact with the leader of M.O.P.  If anyone knew this information, it would be a direct threat to the entire organization.
"If I told you that I would have to kill you.  Where will I be picking up the payment?"
The frogman stood up, "It will be waiting for you on this table upon completion of both the jobs."  A green hand rested on the table.  The suction cups at the tip of each finger glued to the tabletop.
"Fair enough, I will expect the payment to be here when they are both eliminated.  If it is not we will find you and we will get our payment."
"Do not worry it will be here."
With that Maverick left the room, but instead of going back to the roof.  He found his way down to the ground floor and exited the building by the front door.
He disappeared into the chilled night, already wishing to be done with this contract of politics.  On the bright side, he would go down in history as the assassin who sparked the war that would divide the races for decades to come.  Which was all a part of his boss's plans.
Chapter 9 introduces yet another character, Maverick4. Glad to have you!!!!
